Macy and Netti win Champion Sporting at Bredbo
On Friday 5 February Mum, Grace, Netti and I started our journey to Bredbo for the Michelago Sporting Spectacular. It was raining most of the trip and it was very boring, which wasn't a very good start. When we got there the grounds were soaking wet, so we got bogged through the gate, luckily they were prepared and had a land cruiser ready to pull us through.
We got my horse Netti into a stall where she would be sleeping for two nights. When we were ready we went out to the pub for dinner we had dinner with the Forest Hills gang, while we were eating a mum from Forest Hills Pony Club said to my mum to check with the owners if there was a spare bedroom for us to sleep in (we were going to be sleeping in the horse float!) So my mum checked and they said someone had cancelled this morning, my mum was so happy and we had a good sleep. We woke up to have breakfast and went to get my horse ready.
We thought I would be lucky to even get a ribbon considering there was 130 riders and 12 were in my group. So I did my first event and got 1st I was so happy.
Did I mention I had my very own Forest Hills cheering squad?
As the day went by I found out I had hard competition and in the last event Piper beat me by 0.06 seconds. Later on was the flag spectacular, where the fastest 25 five flag winners compete in heats. This year the winner was Gareth Farmer from Muswellbrook. This time for dinner we went to the pizzeria and had a great dinner. When we got to the grounds on Sunday we were ready to win. After yesterday I was 4 points behind so I needed to win six of the seven events and come second in the other to win my age group.
All I can say now is it was a horrible start. Piper beat me by 0.01 seconds which meant I had to win 1st in every single event. So I did. We got to the last event and were tying. I had to win barrels.
Piper went before me which was good, when we both finished our first round Piper was winning by two seconds so Jock from Forest Hills gave me some tips. Piper's second time was even better than her first so I had to go fast and guess what - I won it!
At the presentation I won the fastest three mug for the 10's and under and highest point score in my age group. We were about to get in the car when my cheer squad said goodbye with a hug. When we got home I told my dad and sister the great news. I can't wait till next year. Macy
